Finished the first Gotham building

Finally managed to wrap up the first building for my Batman/DC gaming - let me know what you think! Many thanks to Kris for his suggestions concerning the faded ads on the brick walls - I tried out both approaches (gluing the prints and airbrushing) and I think that they went out quite well. It was Warren Abox's idea at TMP forums to add the markings for the windows (white lines at the sides of each floor).

  3. May I come over to share a game on this piece? Please? :)
Came out really cool, love the finishing touches. Got an idea: do you don't feel that proper bilboards would clash with the Gotham look, then you could consider gluing the printed ads to a scrathbuilt bilboard and magnetising it to the wall in one piece instead of slicing it - sounds fiddly, I know, but it would help disguise the 'stackable floors' look which gets a bit exaggerated by dividing the ad along with floors. Or am I trying to improve the already perfect? ;)

    1. I'll add 1 or 2 pieces to my Gotham setup and you're most welcome to drop by :)
I'm not sure if magnetizing the wall ads is a good idea - a bit too fiddly for me. But if we're talking about free-standing billboards, that's definitely something to explore (so I'd be able to exchange "Wayne Enterprises" for "Vault Tec" and back, for example). Thanks both for the idea and the kind words! :)

  5. I think the ads look fantastic. I can't wait to see a whole block full of these buildings. Did you use 5mm foam core. If you can find some 3mm you might try using that for the inside walls just to free up some space. Still love the building, a whole block is going to look awesome.

    1. Thanks, Kris - I owe you one for the ads suggestion :) I actually have some 3mm foamboard at hand but probably will use it only for some of the interior walls. I need them to be rather sturdy as they are meant not only to divide the interior, but also to keep the floor in place.
The next building will be something a bit different - the Gotham City Olympus club, inspired by Batman: Arkham City. See here: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120818215014/batman/images/e/e3/Gotham_olympus.jpg

  6. Well that turned out great! I love the posters, how did you get them weathered so authentically?

    1. Thanks, Allison! The posters were weathered by rubbing each one carefully with fine sandpaper (220 grade) - at first on the back and then once on twice on the front side.
